"The Dreams of The Black Butterfly" by Mark James Barrett

I have to say, I've never read a book of this caliber before. The Dreams of The Black Butterfly is the first book that had me running in circles in a never ending maze filled with mystery. I'm usually able to figure out the plot of a story part way in to reading it. This thriller had so many loopholes, and twists that it threw me for a loop. It kept my attention easily, as I tried to figure out my own take on what I felt was happening.

What I found most intriguing about the book, was that it seemed every chapter was a story onto itself, creating short snippets to make up a whole grand, and detailed masterpiece. I found the way the Author illustrated each scene to be enticing, and couldn't put the book down. (I recommend reading as efficiently as possible. Each story has a vast amount of information) I hadn't been that engaged in a book since, "The Dark Tower" by: Stephen King. I recommend that you soak in each page. I'm an avid reader, and constantly look for clues, however subtle they may seem in any novel. The Author Mark Barrett, understands how to forge an in-depth story, with several layers of different genre's fastened within the story.

Moises Quispie a man destined to witness the velvet wings of the Black Butterfly (a bizarre, mystical butterfly that has stories written on its wings, Stories that are all together dark, and captivating ). Without giving too much away, we find that Moises is unique, and that he possesses the power to read the stories upon the wings of the alluring Black butterfly. Each chapter tells a portion of the fluttering wings, and mirror images of a world that has come to be.

If you are looking for an unorthodox read, I recommend this suspenseful thriller. It's not everyday you get a look into such an incredible, enriching, and dark story. 5 stars!

"Tamzin Clarke v Jack The Ripper" by Lauren Stock and Robert Stock

From the very first page, I was hooked by the dark, mysterious, and thrilling writing. Within the first chapter, I witnessed such a new and innovative story. It was hard to put the book down! I actually picked it up, because the case, "Jack the Ripper" was a part of the story, and I got so much more than I dreamed.

About the book: Tamzin Clarke, a level-headed young woman, is beginning to make the world her own. She's honed her skills in dancing over ten years of dedication, enough to teach her own beginner's tumbler class. She has a typical musically inclined boyfriend named Jimmy, and a fair amount of school friends. She even makes the time to work with her father at his antique shop when she's not at school,or with her boyfriend. Needless to say, Tamzin likes to stay busy.

Things take a turn, when Tamzin meets an illusive Daniel. She decides to keep an extra eye on him, because he is prone to disappearing at odd times. Unexpectedly, Tamzin, and her family experience the murder of a member of their family (Tamzin's sister). Against normal regulations, Tamzin's mother takes on the lead detective role in the murder case.  A slew of sporadic murders unfold, copying the horrific crimes of Jack the Ripper of the late 1800's. Tamzin takes it upon herself to immerse her skills in the case, and finds herself questioning the facts. Who could this murderer be, and why is Daniel gone again?

I'd highly recommend this urban paranormal/horror novel. It has everything you are looking for! Not to mention you get a little taste of history too. 5 stars all around!

"All-Father" by Koos Verkaik

Peter Jonker is more than your average, every day human. He has magical gifts that set him apart from the rest of the world, ones that he struggles to maintain. We are first introduced to Peter as a young child, being told stories of Wodan, the God of Germanic and Scandinavian Berserkers. As Peter grows older, he finds out he has immortal powers, and of course he is found out, to be used for his set of skills. The very God he learned of as a small impressionable child,Wodan, is now after him to join his army the Berserkers.

The lines of Reality are blurred, and Peter struggles with the truth of what happened to his people.  Peter eventually decides to take an unconventional approach to find out the truth by being hypnotized. Unaware of the changes that are to occur in his life, Peter presses forward. The rest of the story will take you on a roller coaster ride of good vs. evil, forcing the reader to question how they would handle the same situation.

I found the historical undertones of the book to be a refreshing adage to the story.  All-Father was a quick, yet interesting read, and I found it hard to put it down. All of the details easily kept my attention, and I cannot wait for more of Mr. Verkaik's books to be translated! I could easily see some of his work next to greats such as Stephen King, or Dean Koontz. Keep up the amazing work! I'll definitely be following this up-and-coming author.

"Rogue Agent" by Kellie Wallace

Kellie Wallace, charismatic author of "Rogue Agent," has painted an interesting story with even, yet detailed brush strokes. We find that the story takes place in the year 2040. The main character, Seth Langston, opens up the beginning of the book, ready to assassinate a man he was ordered to murder. Right off of the bat, we see that he struggles with the dilemma of what he is doing. Is it right? Or, is it wrong? And, eventually, lets his typical drone Agent side pull the trigger. As a reader, you are immersed into a dystopian world where hit men have quota's, those quota's yielded fair amounts of money, and they must be met in a timely manner. Oh yeah, don't forget to save the finger of your assigned target.

As things progress, and the plot has thickened, Seth is offered a bit more job security. Placing him among a completely different environment where he begins to prosper. The more he immerses himself into the job, the more it becomes toxic. Seth begins to allow his human nature to question his new conscience, and decisions. The book is full of unexpected plot twists, and well developed characters. I was impressed with the sturdiness of her story. It was easy to get lost in her words. I could definitely see this book, with such a great cover, in every store sitting with the greats!

Ms. Wallace does a fantastic job of captivating the reader into mistaking reality with her illustrations in the story, and her wittiness with a pen. I highly recommend this stellar read for all Sci-Fi, Dystopian, Suspense, Thriller, or Mystery seekers. There is absolutely never a dull moment, and I was hooked from the very first page. Thank you for allowing me to read such a bold read!

"Jessie Kasper (BEFORE WE FRACTURED BOOK 1)" by Brandon Nave

From the very first page of the book, the reader is immersed into the chaotic world of Jessie Kasper. Fair warning, you will need a ton of tissues if you think you can handle reading this book. I cried my eyeballs out! One person can only handle so much pain before they collapse. This story follows a young high school kid named Jessie who suffers more heartache than most.

Jessie's life takes a turn for the worst when his mother, and brother suffer untimely death's due to cancer. Like any one who has lost someone they love, Jessie has no idea what he will do without them. His intense, sophistic fear of his loved ones leaving him to deal with the nature of the world forces him to lash out on his own body, thinking he is sick. Jessie reaches an extreme low in his life, and it's unclear that he will recover. If it were not for his friends, and family, Jessie would surely dwindle to nothingness.

When a girl named Kacey comes to town, she captivates Jessie, and the two fall in love. Their strong, and  promising relationship blossoms, and the pair are inseparable. We find that the characters have a good deal in common, and really seem to get each other. There are so many elements that bring this novel to be on my favorites list. My emotions were stirred by this unbelievably enticing, and addictive book. I'm sure I cried out enough tears to fill a bucket! 5 stars all around!

"Riders of Sins Eternal: R.O.S.E." by Lisa Ann

ABOUT THE BOOK: Riders of Sins Eternal is a truly dynamic piece. Alexandra, works at the newspaper Dispatcher, just wants more than anything to mentor her boss and become a Reporter. Relatively, she never seems to be noticed. Her boss never took the time to see her for who Alexandra was, a go-getter. One day she finds herself completely helpless, and being harassed by a gang of Bikers. Miraculously, Alexandra is rescued by Garrick a fellow Biker.

Soon, our main character's Alexandra and Garrick find that they cannot stop thinking about each other after their meeting.  Garrick soon embeds himself into her life, and the two become inseparable.  His true past comes to light, she finds Garrick sold his soul to the devil over 100 years ago. A real curve ball! Understandably, Alexandra had no idea how to process such information, and things were off from that point. But,  she is forced to keep the barely believable secret to herself. She isn't able to honor that promise, and tells her best friend Sasha. Regardless of her actions, things are brought to light, and Alexandra's seemingly psycho boss decides to try for an interview! She'll stop at nothing to achieve her goals.

Things turn for the worst, when Sasha is kidnapped, and Alexandra is forced to turn to Garrick after she'd kept her distance. They soon pair up, and create an elaborate plan to find, and rescue her best friend. They feel confident their idea will work. Things get shaky, and Alexandra is kidnapped as well. A completely unexpected twist forces the reader to question everything leaving them in shambles. A completely unexpected ending...

Lisa Ann is a complete treasure, and true writer. I love her quirky writing style, and to the point attitude. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel, and highly recommend it for any paranormal reader. It has a flawless meld between completely opposite worlds; leaving the reader wanting more. Thank you Lisa for a wonderful gem!

"McGregor Sins" by Alisha Guenzel

McGregor Sins follows a strong-willed ranch hand, and horse whisperer, Jason McGregor. Jason stays busy taking care of his families ranch, and assuming the job his father, who in old age could no longer help as much as he used too. All the while it seemed, not one of his other siblings shared the massive amount of responsibilities with him. Jason had more responsibilities than most, he felt. His easy going personality makes his character the most relate-able in the novel.

The two, destined to meet, are brought together by the death of Haley's father. Jason's mother is the friend of Haley's mom, and visit to offer condolences. As we meet Haley Sheridan, we she that she lives the city life in L.A.. A much different life than the simplicity of Jason's. Her family, who had the backing of money, pushed her to aspire for better goals for her to have a successful future. Her father who suffered an untimely death, left Haley to deal with the angst, and anxiety of facing the world alone. Haley's life seemed to be broken, as even her supposed boyfriend couldn't make the time to be there for her when she needed him most. Haley is left with a reserved attitude, and decides to push everyone away; including Jason.

Jason, our charismatic hero, is finally able to swoop in to take care of Haley in her darkest hour, and thus a beautiful bond is created. Even as he departs L.A. after the funeral, he is left in awe over his feelings for Haley.

When things get suspicious between the family, and their true relationship with Haley's father, tensions rise. The McGregor family begins to fall apart from the inside out, and lies are confronted. Decisions are forced, and happiness, and love are at stake.

I absolutely loved this novel. I found it an easy, interesting read, and couldn't put it down! I read it in about 24 hours. I can't wait to read the next installment, and urge you to check the first out in the series. The most perfect soft romance/western story.

"GI Joe, Mind Disrupter" by Joe Pranaitis

Having little background with the GI Joe comics, I was able to easily jump right into the thrilling story-line of Mind Disrupter. All of the familiar GI Joe Team member's make an appearance in the story, to once again, do battle with Cobra Command's Baroness, and Mindbender. The pair are working on a secret experiment. I love a good story with a plot twist, and this short was full of them. Just when I thought the GI Joe Team would finally catch up with the scum of Cobra Command, they once again, slip through the cracks. Mr. Pranaitis is a wonderful writer, who manages to mimic the comic books style of writing. I highly recommend this action packed short story, and eagerly await more from this author.

"A Stranger Came Among Them" by Donald Montano

Donald Montano has brought us a Post Civil War-Western, worthy of resting on a shelf next to such great classics as,"The Man From Colorado, The Searchers, and even the Movie Rio Grande." (I'm aware that not all of those movies take place in the same location as the book.) Any fan of western stories would know those are amazing movies that have been carried throughout history. I've mentioned them, because while reading,"A Stranger Came Among Them," I felt like I was back at home with my father, curled up in a blanket watching the Encore Western Channel. The details rendered in the novel would not allow me to put the book down.

Reading the very first page, I was immersed into the story of the hero, John Sampson's world. The author brings every emotion to the table, romance, action, mystery, and thrills. Montano has an impeccable skill when dealing with the development of his characters, who are personified through the story. The author also easily proved to readers that he could create a story with historically accurate undertones, altogether creating a fantastic, classic western piece. The description of Colorado's stunning high country, actually left the taste of the trail dust in my mouth, and the feeling that I wouldn't be able to wait to read the next installment. Thank you for creating a one of a kind story, that will stick with me forever.
