THE WALKING DEAD TV SERIES over all review

I don't have to tell you how much of a THE WALKING DEAD fan that I am. I'm sure that you have gathered that already. I love all things ZOMBIE. It's hard for me to turn viewing a zombie flick down. There are so many different takes on how people believe that a Zombie outbreak could take place. I love finding diverse idea's. Even before I became an author. I have always been fascinated with the lore, which stretches back to Haiti and Africa. And I love the science behind it and peoples different takes on that.

The Walking Dead Series brought something to the table that I never thought I'd like about any ZOMBIE series; leaning more towards the Human's point of view than the ZOMBIES. And also, the psychological aspect of it. From the very beginning, the writers of the Walking Dead TV series created a show that brought the viewer directly in the middle of the apocalypse. You are thrown in the with the Main character, 'RICK GRIMES.' A man that happens to be thrown in just like you. He had suffered from a coma and woken up alone in an overrun hospital. But, he'd been lucky to survive.

The first scene opens up with rick stopping  at a gas station looking for gas. From the looks of his surroundings, he is in a rural country area. You can see that all around him only months before total chaos had broken lose. He begins looking around and sees children's toys and a sign that says, 'no gas.' And then that's when he hears the soft sound of feet shuffling on the ground on the other side of a vehicle, he looks under the car and sees a little girls feet as she picks up her stuffed animal on the ground. He calls out to her as she continues to walk down the street and she turns around. Her face is mangled exposing her teeth and her eyes are an unnatural color. She has blood on her clothes and her skin is a grey color. One of the most memorable and important scenes in the entire series. Rick ends up having to shoot the little girl. Something he never thought he would do. And probably one of the hardest things he ever had to do.

Eventually, You see Rick and Shane discussing women in their cop car. They are both cops and are both eating a fast food meal. You learn that Rick is having problems with his marriage. He and his wife aren't communicated properly. Then dispatch suddenly comes on the radio and calls the two to a high speed pursuit. They immediately throw their food away and head in the direction of the runaway vehicle, in the hopes to cut them off. They reach ahead of them and break out the road spikes and take cover behind their vehicles with their guns drawn.  At this point I began to wonder how this plays into the the beginning of the apocalypse. And also who the main character is. (Of course I have already watched this episode several times before.) They both seem like strong actors. Either could have been the lead.
The car hits the spikes and they are sent flying into the air. Long story short, the dispatch got the number of occupants wrong inside the vehicle and once the shootout begins, Rick is shot twice but, only one bullet reached him. The other only hit his bullet proof vest. The scene cuts out and you are left wondering what the hell just happened. Was this not the main character in the series? He can't die! I began to wonder if he would be the first zombie in the show.
The new scene opens up and you see Shane standing over Rick in his hospital bed. He is telling him that they are still there. He has flowers in his hands waving them in front of Rick. He's trying to get his attention. He's wanting him to wake up desperately. He begins talking about work and how everyone misses Rick. And heads to the tablet o set them down. At this point, I am wondering if Rick is actually looking at Shane with his eyes open. If maybe he is just in a daze. Because it doesn't really seem that he is in a coma. He suddenly wakes and begins talking to Shane about the flowers. As he looks around though, no one is there. He even sees the flowers are old and wilted as he crushes them between his fingers. They had obviously been there several weeks. He struggles to get up and falls to the ground. Sending his IV to the ground. He calls for a nurse but, no one comes. He steps out into the hallway and sees that it's disheveled. Paper and IV monitors were all over the hall. He tries the phone but, it's not working. He finds matches and uses them for light. As he continues on into the hospital he sees a dead body laying on the ground. It has been heavily eaten on by something. Rick stares with disgust and fear. He continues on and sees bullets litering the walls. Soon he comes to a set of double doors that read,"Don't open, dead inside."
He approaches the door and sees a pair of cold grey fingers pop through and push on the chained door. In not too long, there are more hands popping through. Rick takes off down the hall and tries to reach the elevator but, it doesn't work. He finds a staircase but, the lights aren't working. He uses the matches that he found earlier and lights his way down the staircase. He makes it out fine and doesn't see a single Zombie. He opens the door and shields his eyes as a bright light fills his eyes. He then walks down the stairs and sees rows of bodies on the ground. They are covered with white sheets and and rope. Some of the dead bodies were exposed. The flesh was rotting and decaying. Rick shifts his gaze to the hill in front of him. He struggles to climb up and over it to see a downed helicopter and a heavily damaged hospital. There was a heavy presence of military personnel. Yet, again he hasn't seen a single soul. Rick is taken aback by what he sees. . He treks on, finding a bicycle. He sees a body laying next to it. It's half of a woman, missing the lower half of her body. She turns to him reaching and scratching the air. Her mouth is ripped to pieces and her teeth are showing. Rick struggles to get away and bikes it to his home.
He desperately calls for his family who are no longer there.  He asks himself,"Is this real?" And proceeds to tell himself to "wake up." He decides that he needs look around the house. He notices that the pictures are all gone around the house and assumes that she wasn't dead. But, that she just ran away. He then leaves, ready to look for her. He takes a break and sits down on the ground in front of his house. He is exhausted from the disgusting gun shot wound and lack of water. As he sits there he hazily sees someone walking toward him."Finally someone that is alive." Right? Soon, someone comes in and hits Rick with  the end of a shovel nearly knocking him out. Rick looks up from the ground and calls out to the young boy standing beside him, calling him Carl. Saying that he had finally found him.
The boy cries out for his father and you see a man shoot the person walking towards Rick and tell the boy to back away. He asks," Did he say something?" "Son you know they don't talk." He then asks him what kind of wound he has. As he the man looks down at Ricks wrappings.

To be continued....
