"The Cabin" by Jessie Bradford
Even though this story isn't that long, it has a riveting effect on the reader. I finished the book in a matter of hours, easy read! I went into this story not knowing how suspenseful and thrilling it would be. I fell in love with Sam and Kyle's history. In the beginning it was innocent, friendship that seemed to blossom over night. Kyle secretly loves his long time neighbor and best friend Sam, and is too coy to express his feelings for her outwardly. Time passes, and their lives begin to shift in different paths. All the while, Kyle is always there for Sam. Even through the boyfriend's and breakup's. Time eventually heals everything, and they are able to remain friends.
Kyle loses his emotions when a hot-headed jerk coaxes Sam into dating him, and pushes Kyle's feelings to the side. John, plays the protective boyfriend and shelter's his relationship with Sam. A weekend out at an old cabin in the woods sounds like the perfect remedy to any ailing relationship. A jealous Kyle, and overbearing John, Sam, and a few other friends settle in on their vacation things go array. A nearby village of campers are murdered, and Kyle is left to pick up the pieces. He is forced by a band of murderers to do the unthinkable, and jeopardize his relationship with Sam. Tension rises as the band of friends escape the horrific nightmare. Things aren't over though, Sam finds out some life-altering news, and must face the truth of where it all began.
I found this story quite compelling. There are so many dark undertones to the central theme. I was impressed by the many layers brought into the story, and would recommend it for any avid reader.
